Dr David Charles, Allen Consulting

Dr David Charles is the Chairman of Insight Economics Pty Ltd, a specialist public policy consulting firm. Prior to the establishment of Insight Economics, David spent 13 years as a Director of the Allen Consulting Group.

Dr Charles joined Allen Consulting in 1993 after holding a number of senior positions in the Commonwealth Public Service, where from 1985-1990 he was the Head of the Department of Industry, Technology and Commerce. From 1987- 1990 David was a member of the Austrade Board and during that time gained a close insight into the challenges involved in drawing small and medium sized businesses with potential into entering export markets. During this time he was also a member of the Australian China Council and visited China with a delegation led by the then Chairman, the Hon Gough Whitlam.
