Mr Richard Stayner, Institute for Rural Futures, University of New England
Richard joined the Rural Development Centre in 1985. Since 2000, he has been the program director of the Centre, now known as the Institute for Rural Futures. Richard has undertaken a wide range of research on farm adjustment, the economic linkages between primary industries and rural communities, socio-economic change in rural communities, the measurement of socio-economic well-being in rural Australia, regional economic development, the role of social capital in rural community development, and the commercial potential of native plant and animal species. He also currently teaches natural resource economics in the School of Economics at UNE.

E-Commerce and its Impacts for Rural Business (Research)
Nov 2002This study was commissioned by the Australian Business Foundation to examine the opportunities and the threats posed by e-commerce to business capability in rural and regional Australia. The study provides a snapshot into rural Australia to determine the reality of the implications of electronic commerce for rural non-farm businesses.
