Dr Bob Frater AO, VP Innovation, ResMed Corporation
Over more than 40 years, Dr Bob Frater has researched electronics, telecommunications, radioastronomy instrumentation, electroacoustics and biomedical devices. In 1996, he was made an Officer of the Order of Australia for his contributions to science in Australia and internationally, including his work on the construction of the highly successful $50 million Australia Telescope at Narrabri in northern NSW. Bob is presently the Vice President for Innovation with ResMed Corporation and holds a number of other board positions. He has been with ResMed since 1999, after leaving CSIRO where he had been Deputy Chief Executive for 11 years. He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science and a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences & Engineering, and chaired the Research Advisory Committee of the Australian Business Foundation until September 2008.
