Catherine Armitage
Catherine Armitage is a well-known Australian writer and researcher. She has had a long and distinguished career as a senior journalist and editor on Australia’s two leading newspapers, The Australian and The Sydney Morning Herald, winning prizes for her writing on a range of topics from business and legal affairs to science and education.
She has been awarded Australian government scholarships including a science and technology journalism fellowship from the Australia-China Council and a North East Asia Visits Scholarship. She was The Australian newspaper’s first titled Higher Education Correspondent, its China Correspondent based in Beijing for four years from 2002 to 2005, and its Higher Education Editor (2006-2008).
Catherine now runs a successful research, writing and consultancy business focusing on three key areas: China, higher education and the not for profit sector.

Engaging China: The realities for Australian businesses (Research)

The Australian Business Foundation undertook a study examining the current realities for Australian firms doing business with China. This study was led by international relations specialist, Dr Keith Suter with an expert team of senior journalist, Catherine Armitage and China specialists, Sara Cheng and Rab Memari of Australian Business International Trade Services.It involved an analysis of the background to Australia-China business relationships and a series of 26 business case studies based on interviews with senior executives of Australian enterprises which have a substantiative history of doing business with China.
