Sam Macaulay's research is aimed at uncovering the complex evolutionary mechanisms behind the emergence of different patterns of innova­tion within organisations. Within his PhD, Sam is collaborating with a number of multinational firms involved in the engineering industry to investigate how the structure of organisational networks influences problem solving & innovation.  Sam prebiously worked as a researcher in the social science stream of CSIRO’s Intelligent Grid Project and as a consultant on a range of projects related to organisational change and inter-organisational collaboration.
